For whoever manages the edit
If you manage editors, you've asked "where are we on this?" more times than you can count. Timers get forgotten, and a status update tells you how someone feels about a project, which isn't the same as hours.
Cut Time shows which project each editor has open right now and how many active hours every project has taken so far. Editors keep working the way they already do.
In use at House of Edits
Cut Time started at House of Edits, and its editors still track every project with it. These are their numbers since March 2026.

Cut Time doesn't record screens, take screenshots, or log keystrokes. It sends project names and minute totals. Each editor gets their own dashboard with their hours, and they can keep personal projects off the studio view.

Pricing

Is this employee monitoring software?
+No. Cut Time doesn't record screens, take screenshots or log keystrokes. It knows which editing app is in focus, which project is open, and whether the editor is active. That's all it sends.
Can editors see their own hours?
+Yes. Every editor gets their own dashboard with their hours and project stats. They can hide personal projects from the studio.
What counts as active time?
+Time with the editing app in focus and the editor using the mouse or keyboard. When they step away, the clock moves to idle. Both numbers are on your dashboard.
Does it work on Windows?
+Yes. The tracker runs on macOS and Windows. On Windows it tracks DaVinci Resolve, Premiere Pro and After Effects. Final Cut Pro is Mac only.
What does it cost?
+30 days free with unlimited editors and no card. After that it's $8 per editor per month, or $80 per editor per year, with no minimum.
